These learning guides have been developed in the context of a three year participatory evaluation entitled 'Reinventing Community' funded by the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation and developed on behalf of CIS-Canada.
The Learning Guides are representative of the shared experience of students, parents, teachers, administrators and Communities In Schools workers and supporters - the whole CIS team in Southwestern Newfoundland.
Primary use of this material is for CIS-Newfoundland programming. Secondary use would be for interested sites in Atlantic Canada. The structure described reflects the unique circumstances of CIS- Newfoundland and funding available. Different sources of funding may, by necessity, change the structure and programming other sites may wish to implement.
The key is flexibility. This material is, as the title implies, meant to be a guide for others wishing to help youth help themselves through supportive school-based programming.
